Buderim set for stellar BWMCA 75th Anniversary Celebrations

With celebrations delayed from 2020 due to COVID, BWMCA President Errol Richardson said everyone in the organisation was more than ready to celebrate.

Mr Richardson said the weekend would begin with a 1940s Musical Extravaganza Concert on Friday 27th May, followed by a 1940s Big Band Dance on Saturday 28th May.

He said there would also be an Official Commemoration and Afternoon Tea on Sunday 29th May.

“The BWMCA was founded in 1945 to create a living memorial to the wartime sacrifice of the service men and women of the WW11, to embrace the freedoms for which men and women in the armed services have fought and died to defend on our behalf and maintain the spirit of community that characterised the area during the war years,” Mr Richardson said.

“Today it is a vibrant community organisation with over 240 members and works closely with over 70 other local affiliate community organisations.

“The BWMCA is part of what makes Buderim such a very special place, and I think the organisation’s founders would be proud of what we continue to offer the community.”

Mr Richardson said celebrations with the 1940s style events would be a lot of fun for people of all ages in the community.

“At the concert on Friday night from 6-8pm, we will have wartime melodies performed by youth and adult groups and choirs and it’s just $15 per person.

“On Saturday Night from 6.30-11.00pm, guests to the Big Band Dance are encouraged to dress in 1940s era style and dance to the Andrew’s Sisters Tribute and the Miller Horns.

“The bar will be open and supper available, though people are also welcome to bring their own food and drinks, all for just $25 per person.”

Tickets for both the Friday Night Concert – $15 per person – and Saturday Night Dance – $25 per person – are limited and available on the BWMCA website – https://www.bwmca.com.au/ so book early.
