New mega Sunshine Mitre 10 opens in Aura Business Park

One of the largest independently operated and owned hardware suppliers in Queensland, Sunshine Mitre 10 has opened a new mega hardware store at Stockland’s Aura Business Park.

Sunshine Mitre 10 General Manager Neil Hutchins and Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace MP cut the ribbon at new Sunshine Mitre 10 Aura store.

The new Aura store has been built across three commercial blocks of land and includes 6,5000 square metres of land including 3,500 square metres under roof.

Sunshine Mitre 10 General Manager Neil Hutchins said the new Aura store was an important part of the group’s steadily expanding network of stores.

“Aura has some of the largest growth in population on the Coast, an area that will always be important to us with the business having started in Nambour more than 110 years ago,” Mr Hutchins said.

“Stockland’s Aura development is already home to almost 10,000 people so this is a great location for us. The store will help us to service our trade customers as well as the rapidly growing Aura community, which is expected to reach a population of 50,000 when completed.

“With Aura being a thriving hub of construction with thousands of homes being built over the next twenty years, we know there will be a huge appetite from tradespeople, owner builders and homeowners alike.

Mr Hutchins said the new store is ideally positioned alongside the Bells Creek Arterial Road which will be directly connected to the Bruce Highway.

“This makes it easy for tradespeople and residents alike to get in, get out and get on with it.”

The opening was celebrated with a special preview for its trade customers on Thursday night and a huge family fun day on Saturday 18th February, where thousands turned out to check out the store and enjoy a family fun day that included a free sausage sizzle, snow cones and fairy floss, a Hark Smoker demonstration, a chance to meet the Dulux Dog and heaps of opening bargains and giveaways.

Sunshine Mitre 10 marketing manager Nick Brind, General Manager Neil Hutchins, Stockland Senior Economic Development Manager Matthew Byrne, Aura Store Manager Jeremy Schreiber and Trade Centre Supervisor Scott Trinca at the opening of the new Sunshine Mitre 10 store.

Mr Hutchins said the store had employed experienced members from within the Sunshine and Mitre 10 network as well as more than a dozen locals who had been undergoing training ready for the store to open.

“This is our ninth location on the Sunshine Coast, and the 21st around the state, with the group employing more than 400 staff state-wide.

The Aura store development followed the opening of new stores in North Lakes and Sunshine Mitre 10’s new flagship Nambour site in the last two years and there are plans for more development in South East Queensland in the coming couple of years.”
