Eagle Copters Australasia is proud to announce the EAGLE 407HP, developed by international partner Eagle Copters Ltd, has been certified by the US Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA certification follows certification less than two weeks earlier by Transport Canada. By virtue of a Supplemental Type Certification (STC), the upgrade replaces the OEM- installed Rolls Royce C47 turbine engine with a next-generation Honeywell HTS900 turbine engine, significantly improving the Bell 407’s high altitude and hot ambient temperature performance.
This certification means that the 407HP is ready and approved for operation in Australia.
Among the advantages offered to operators seeking better performance from the Bell 407, the Eagle 407HP conversion introduces increased shaft horsepower, improving the payload capability and ultimately resulting in increased capabilities of the helicopter over a wider operating spectrum. Additional benefits include increased speed, reduced fuel consumption, and the incorporation of a true dual-channel full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system.
Based at Coffs Harbour Airport, Eagle Copters Australasia is a privately owned company offering helicopter leasing, sales and support services. The company brings together Australian expertise and the experience of one of the international leaders in the helicopter industry, Eagle Copters Ltd.
Eagle has reported three firm orders have been taken since the granting of the STC with a significant increase in interest. Conversions will be initially performed in Calgary followed by the Coffs Harbour facility around mid-year.
The international company, Eagle Copters Ltd, also privately owned, has been offering leasing, sales, completions, maintenance, repair and overhaul, support and product development since 1975. Its headquarters is located at an extensive facility (over 7000m2) at Canada’s Calgary International Airport.
