Buderim Foundation lends a Helping Hand to assist local families

School expenses such as clothing, shoes and stationery supplies can be challenging for many families. So, the Buderim Foundation is proud to be a part of the 2017 FRRR Back to School Program that offers $50 Target vouchers to families who require some assistance.

Managed by The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), this program supports students and their families who attend schools in our local area.  This year, with significant financial support from our local Buderim Lions and Rotary Clubs, the Buderim Foundation is able to distribute 250 Target vouchers valued at $50 each, a total worth of $12,500.

Mentoring Through Sport provides boost for Buderim youth

Some Buderim Mountain State School students have been receiving mentoring as part of a SunnyKids sports mentoring program delivering a lot more than just activity and fitness. The program was funded by a Buderim Foundation community grant.

We know that sport is great for kids. It keeps them fit, gives them a break from computers and screens and provides opportunities for social growth. However, we are now discovering extra benefits when sporting activity is enhanced with qualified mentoring and guidance. These include improved emotional and behavioural responses.

Protect your home now from predicted mice plague in South Australia

With predictions of a mice plague across parts of South Australia, now is a great time for home owners to ensure they are not unwittingly laying out the welcome mat for these pests, according to Weepa Products.

Weepa Technical Officer Mitch Flint said according to the CSIRO, there have been higher than expected mice numbers on the York Peninsula and Mid North of South Australia, with mice also breeding earlier than usual across the Adelaide Plains.

“According to reports, heavy rainfall in spring boosted population growth and after bumper grain crops, researchers are concerned mild summer conditions could lead to further breeding and a potential outbreak in autumn,” Mitch said.
