Hatted Chef Heat & Eat Meals reaches 5000 meal milestone for the Homeless & Vulnerable

JUST 18-months since it launched, The Hatted Chef has reached the milestone of providing 5,000 meals for the homeless and vulnerable.

The Hatted Chef, which offers chef-prepared, heat & eat meals for sale through independent food stores, began at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic with an idea that had been brewing in the kitchens of Mooloolaba restaurant The Dock Mooloolaba.

The Hatted Chef executive chef Chris Sell said now coming up to 18-months after launching on 27th October 2020, the team was delighted to be expanding its distribution beyond the Sunshine Coast, into Brisbane, and preparing several hundred meals a week.

With celebrations delayed from 2020 due to COVID, BWMCA President Errol Richardson said everyone in the organisation was more than ready to celebrate.

Mr Richardson said the weekend would begin with a 1940s Musical Extravaganza Concert on Friday 27th May, followed by a 1940s Big Band Dance on Saturday 28th May.

The Wharf Mooloolaba Family Fun Day on again!

The Wharf Mooloolaba and SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast will host the third of their very popular Family Fun Day for 2019 on Sunday, 27th October.

From 10am to 3pm on the Sunday, locals and visitors are invited to join in on any of the family-friendly activities available onsite including face painting, petting zoo, hands-on reptile display, jumping castle – all absolutely free.

There will also be free stand up paddle board and kayak hire at Sunreef Mooloolaba as well as three free river cruises with Coastal Cruises Mooloolaba.

More than 6,000 people visited The Wharf Mooloolaba precinct over the weekend to celebrate the 30th Birthday of these two Sunshine Coast icons.

People enjoyed free attractions including incredible Aerial Silks Acrobatic Displays from Just Acrobatics, river cruises, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking as well as a jumping castle, super slide, reptile display and facepainting.

The weekend also included a live broadcast by SEA FM’s Heidi and Jason and there was also a kids go free offer at SEA LIFE that saw thousands visit the attraction.

The Wharf Mooloolaba co-owner Dirk Long said they were delighted to see so many locals and visitors come out to enjoy the entertainment.

“We have worked hard over the past few years to renovate the precinct and everyone has really embraced everything the precinct has to offer so we wanted to thank everyone for this support.

“We are now looking forward to continuing renovation works including work on the Hogs Breath building, our iconic tower as well as the official openning of our food alley later in the year.”

New Greek restaurant to be latest draw card for The Wharf Mooloolaba

The latest brainchild of Sunshine Coast award-winning chef and restaurateur Tony Kelly, Spero Greek Street has thrown open its doors at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

The latest new eatery at what is once again the place to be on the Sunshine Coast, Spero will offer an authentic Greek dining experience.

Tony Kelly said the Urban dictionary defines Spero as an uncomfortably good-looking Greek muscle man, and while the name was created out of a sense of ironic humour, it certainly fits the restaurant which has been described as Rice Boi’s prettier sister (or brother as the case may be).

The Dock Mooloolaba hosts Local Beer Tap Takeover this weekend

The Wharf Mooloolaba’s newest restaurant and bar, The Dock Mooloolaba has 52 beer taps, with 16 different beers, across three bars and starting this Friday, there will be a Local Tap Takeover, with only local beers to be poured throughout the weekend.

The Dock Mooloolaba owner Jared Hart said the “Local Tap Takeover” will be a celebration of the restaurant’s four-month anniversary, and an opportunity to support and highlight our fantastic local craft breweries.

Thousands are expected to descend on The Wharf Mooloolaba for the second annual mooloolaBaBQ Festival on Saturday 27th January.

Co-hosted by The Wharf Mooloolaba and The Wharf Tavern, the Festival will celebrate everything people in our multi-cultural Australian community love about BBQ and raise money for Give Me 5 For Kids.

The Wharf Tavern venue manager, Terence Lunney said the Festival would excite all the senses with food trucks and tents to temp with cooking styles and flavours from around the world.

The Wharf Mooloolaba’s newest restaurant opens in time for Christmas

The Sunshine Coast’s newest restaurant and bar is now officially open, just in time for festive celebrations.

The Dock Mooloolaba is the latest restaurant to open as part of The Wharf Mooloolaba’s revitalisation.

The Dock Mooloolaba specialises in smoked meat, char-grill and has 52 beer taps across three different bars, the most on the Sunshine Coast. The offering includes 16 different varieties on tap, with a further 20 available on cans as well as a quality selection of wine.

Whether it’s Asian Street Food or the Coastal-inspired Fish & Chips Eatery, The Wharf Mooloolaba is now the place to go with the opening of two new restaurants by award-winning Queensland chef Tony Kelly.

The Wharf Mooloolaba co-owner Dirk Long said the openings signal the beginning of what is a very exciting summer for the precinct.

“We have nearly completed stage two of the revitalisation of The Wharf precinct and we hope everyone will come down to check it out,” Mr Long said.

“Some of my fondest memories growing up on the Coast were hanging around The Wharf and I am really looking forward to seeing it return to the bustling precinct it used to be this summer.”

The Wharf Mooloolaba revitalisation will see two more restaurants open for festive season

As work on The Wharf Mooloolaba revitalisation continues, construction has begun on two more restaurants that will make up part of the Sunshine Coast’s hottest new dining precinct.

 

The two new restaurants to be launched by award-winning Queensland chef and restauranteur Tony Kelly will offer Asian street food as well as a “Hamptons-style” Fish and Chippery.

The restaurants are part of a $10million refurbishment project for The Wharf precinct, according to Dirk Long, co-owner of Evans Long.
